About This Project
Why This Website Exists
We believe war is not a permanent feature of human life. It is a system — built from manufactured need, accumulated weapons, and the quiet self-interest of those who profit when the fighting starts. Systems built by people can be dismantled by people. That belief is the reason this website exists.
The Triangle of War began as a book: a chapter-by-chapter examination of how war is manufactured, financed, and sustained, and of the concrete, achievable steps that could bring it to an end. This website carries that argument out of the book and into the world, with a single, clear purpose.
Our purpose is to encourage everyone of us to put pressure on the political leaders of every nation to support the creation of a genuine international justice system to end all wars — an independent tribunal and enforcement body (a global military force wth soldiers and weapons from every nation that supports this global peace initiative) with the authority, the reach, and the teeth to prevent wars before they start, and to hold accountable those who start them anyway.
That is not a poetic aspiration. It is a specific, achievable institutional reform, and it is the single most direct lever available to end the cycle this book describes.
What We're Actually Asking For
Nations already agree, on paper, that aggressive war is illegal. What’s missing is not agreement — it’s enforcement. No functioning system anywhere in the world stays peaceful by relying on laws that carry no real consequence for breaking them. War will be no different. This website exists to make the case, plainly and repeatedly, for the institutions that could finally close that gap: a binding international treaty that defines aggression clearly and applies the same standard to every nation regardless of size or power; an independent tribunal, insulated from the political interests of any single government, with genuine authority to investigate and judge; and a system of consistent, automatic consequences that no nation, however powerful, can simply opt out of.
We ask, too, for the gradual, verified reduction of the military alliances and standing arsenals that currently make war easier to reach for than diplomacy — not because defense doesn’t matter, but because an enforceable global system of justice is what would eventually make so much of that defense unnecessary in the first place.
Why Politicians, Specifically
Every reform this project calls for requires the same thing: elected leaders willing to spend real political capital building institutions that outlast their own time in office. That is a genuinely hard thing to ask of anyone in public life, and history shows it rarely happens without visible, organized public pressure asking for it first. This website is built to help create that pressure — clearly, respectfully, and consistently — by giving ordinary readers the arguments, the evidence, and the language to bring this case to their own representatives, wherever in the world they happen to serve.
We are not asking politicians to disarm unilaterally, to abandon their nations’ security, or to trust in good intentions alone. We are asking them to do what responsible leaders have done before, in other areas where unchecked power once caused enormous harm: build a real, enforceable, independent system of accountability, and then support it consistently enough that it can actually work.
Why We Believe This Is Achievable
It has been done before, in smaller form. Regional courts and tribunals already hold real authority over their member states. International agreements on chemical weapons, ozone-depleting chemicals, and nuclear testing have each, in their own way, proven that binding, verified, enforced cooperation between rival nations is possible when enough political will exists to build it properly. None of these were easy. None of them happened quickly. All of them once seemed as unrealistic as a genuine international justice system for war seems to some people today.
We don’t expect this to happen overnight, and we don’t expect it to happen because enough people simply wish for it. We expect it to happen the way every other major institutional reform in history has happened: through sustained public pressure, patient argument, and enough people insisting, clearly and consistently, that a better system is possible, until the leaders who could build it finally do.
